The lessons focus on grammar, and this gave me a solid base to start speaking. The admin team is very organised and always ready to help you find the right class. The pace of the classes can feel a bit too slow sometimes, and calling them on the phone was quite frustrating.

Why it is special. They partner with the government to offer free courses, and they also have their own online learning site. You can study basic conversation, medical Danish, or prepare for the citizenship test.

The online platform is easy to use and combines videos, listening tasks, and writing exercises. My summer teachers were patient with hard words, and they gave us fun ways to practice speaking. Be careful when booking official exams because they only give you the date two weeks in advance and will not offer refunds.
4. KVUC

I started learning for my new career here, and the supportive environment helped me reach my goals. It is a great place to get an education, and riding the historic electric elevator is a lovely touch. The building feels a bit dated, and the canteen is usually closed if you have classes in the afternoon.

I did a three-week summer course and the teachers were welcoming, kind, and professional. The school has a great range of languages, and it helped me use Danish for my work. My class was cancelled after I waited for two months, and the reception staff were not very helpful when I complained.
6. Berlitz Copenhagen
About the school. This school started in 1878 and offers structured Danish courses in the middle of Copenhagen.
Why it is special. They use a special method where you speak for most of the class time. They also teach you about Danish culture to help you understand life in Denmark.

My teachers made me feel comfortable as a complete beginner, and the books they gave me were useful. The lessons fit my daily life, and the beautiful building has a lovely view that makes studying a pleasure. You start speaking from the very first day, which built my confidence much faster than normal grammar exercises.
7. VSK Glostrup
About the school. This public school in Greater Copenhagen offers official Danish courses paid for by the government.
Why it is special. They support all kinds of learners, including blind students and those who struggle with reading. You can study in person or online using Google Classroom.

The lessons are fun and the teachers are supportive, even staying after class to help me catch up. I am making fast progress here because the staff are helpful and the teaching is efficient. The opening hours listed online were wrong, so it is best to call them to confirm times.
8. CLAVIS sprog & kompetence
About the school. This large non-profit school has over forty years of experience, and they offer official Danish courses and exam prep.
Why it is special. They teach Danish using your native language, like German, Polish, or Persian. They also host a social meetup where anyone can drop in to practice speaking.

The teachers are patient and enthusiastic, and the relaxed classroom makes learning a pleasant experience. I love that they host a social space where you can drop in and chat with others even if you are not a student. The administration can be slow to reply to emails, and I was placed in a fast-track class that was too difficult for a beginner.

About the school. This school has taught students for over thirty years, with campuses in Hellerup and Frederiksberg.
Why it is special. It is an official center where you can take national Danish tests. They offer special classes like medical Danish for doctors and nurses, and academic courses on university campuses.
Who it is for. Healthcare workers, university staff, and students who need to pass official Danish state exams.
The teachers are supportive and enthusiastic, and it is a wonderful place to meet other international students. The head teacher is friendly and approachable, which made starting my language learning feel much easier. The building can get hot in the summer because of poor ventilation, and the location is a long walk from the train station.
10. UCplus Sprogcenter København
About the school. This large center has taught official Danish courses since 2007.
Why it is special. They are the largest provider in Denmark, and they partner with universities like KU and DTU to help students settle in. They also offer training for jobs in transport and security, along with citizenship and exam prep.
Who it is for. International students and workers who need official exams or job-specific training.
I finished five full modules here and found the classes very motivating, plus it was a great way to meet new people. The school was really helpful for getting me ready to work in the local transport sector. The office staff can be hard to reach, and my class had its teacher changed several times during the course.
