Practise the topics in your textbook on the go.

Most language classes work through a textbook one chapter at a time. For each chapter we make a short audio course of 7 lessons, set around that chapter's themes.

The conversations, characters and audio are our own, and nothing is copied from the books. HearSay isn't affiliated with any of the publishers.

Is your textbook not here yet?

When you create a course, see if your textbook is on the list. If it is, pick the chapter your class is on and we'll write conversations around that chapter's themes.

Frequently asked questions.

Start with the chapter your class is on. If you're learning without a class, start with chapter 1. Each course uses the grammar from its chapter and the ones before it, apart from a few set phrases, so the courses work best in order.

No. Each course works without the book, with its own conversations and audio. If your class uses the book, the course for the chapter you're on goes alongside it.

HearSay sends you personalised audio language lessons as voice messages on WhatsApp. Each lesson is a real conversation between native speakers, built around a topic you choose and matched to your level.

You listen and speak along while walking, driving, or cooking. An AI tutor in the same chat answers your questions, explains grammar, and creates new lessons whenever you ask.

No. HearSay runs entirely inside WhatsApp, so there's nothing to install and no new app to remember. If your phone has WhatsApp, you're ready: your first lesson arrives in your chat a few minutes after you sign up.

HearSay uses the audio-lingual method: you learn by hearing real dialogues, speaking along, and actively recalling phrases, with spaced repetition bringing them back just as you're about to forget.

A good rule of thumb: once you get around 80% of a lesson's phrases right, you're ready to move on. Plenty of learners repeat a lesson a few times first, and that's completely fine.

Yes. You speak out loud in every lesson, repeating and recalling phrases before you hear the answer. You're never recorded during lessons, so you can practise comfortably even in public.

At the end of a lesson you can join an optional role-play call to act out the conversation with your AI tutor. Those calls are recorded, and personalised feedback on your speaking is coming soon.
