# First steps: My family and my day

> Master talking about your day by listening to Nienke and Omar's conversation about work and family. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** The pavement outside a nursery in Amsterdam at three in the afternoon, with parents waiting for the doors to open. Nienke and Omar stand next to each other most days and today they start talking. They use je with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Saying what you do for work

Nienke and Omar find out what the other does for a living.

### 2. Talking about your children

Nienke and Omar say how many children they each have.

### 3. Saying who you live with

Omar tells Nienke who is at home, and she does the same.

### 4. Saying what time you get up

Omar asks Nienke what time her day starts.

### 5. Saying where you eat meals

Nienke and Omar compare where they eat during the day.

### 6. Talking about your evening

Omar tells Nienke he works evenings and goes to bed late.

### 7. Meeting the children after nursery

The children come out, and Nienke and Omar say goodbye.
