# First steps: My family and my day

> Master talking about your day by listening to Harada and Onishi's conversation about work and family. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** The pavement outside a nursery in Tokyo at the end of the afternoon, with parents waiting for the doors to open. Harada and Onishi stand next to each other most days and today they start talking. Both hold polite です・ます form from the first line.

## Lessons

### 1. Saying what you do for work

Harada and Onishi find out what the other does for a living.

### 2. Talking about your children

Harada and Onishi talk about their children.

### 3. Saying who you live with

Onishi tells Harada who is at home, and she does the same.

### 4. Saying what time you get up

Onishi asks Harada what time her day starts.

### 5. Saying where you eat meals

Harada and Onishi compare where they eat during the day.

### 6. Talking about your evening

Onishi tells Harada he works evenings and goes to bed late.

### 7. Meeting the children at pick-up

The children come out, and Harada and Onishi say goodbye.
