# First steps: My family and my day

> Master talking about your day by listening to Iman and Mostafa's conversation about work and family. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** The pavement outside a school in Cairo at two in the afternoon, with parents waiting for the doors to open. Iman and Mostafa stand next to each other most days and today they start talking. They are on familiar terms with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Saying what you do for work

Iman and Mostafa find out what the other does for a living.

### 2. Talking about your children

Iman and Mostafa say how many children they each have.

### 3. Saying who you live with

Mostafa tells Iman who is at home, and she does the same.

### 4. Saying what time you get up

Mostafa asks Iman what time her day starts.

### 5. Saying where you eat meals

Iman and Mostafa compare where they eat during the day.

### 6. Talking about your evening

Mostafa tells Iman he works evenings and goes to bed late.

### 7. Meeting the children after school

The children come out, and Iman and Mostafa say goodbye.
