# First steps: Where I'm from

> Listen in as Sofia and Ben talk about where they come from in real, everyday English. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A bus stop on a busy street in Portland on a weekday morning. Sofia, who is from Madrid, waits here every day, and today Ben starts talking to her.

## Lessons

### 1. Saying which country you're from

Sofia and Ben get talking at the bus stop and find out they are from different countries.

### 2. Saying which city you're from

Sofia and Ben name the cities they grew up in.

### 3. Saying where you live now

Sofia and Ben discover they both live in Portland.

### 4. Saying which street you live on

Sofia and Ben work out that they live a couple of streets apart.

### 5. Saying which languages you speak

Sofia and Ben compare the languages they each speak.

### 6. Talking about countries you know

Ben and Sofia talk about the countries they have visited and the ones they want to see.

Ben and Sofia say where their families are.
