# First steps: Where I'm from

> Listen in as Selin and Emre talk about where they come from in real, everyday Turkish. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** The corridor outside an evening class in Kadıköy, İstanbul, ten minutes before it starts. Selin and Emre sit next to each other every week and are finally talking properly. They are on sen from the first line.

## Lessons

### 1. Saying which country you're from

Selin asks Emre where he is from and he says Germany.

### 2. Saying which city you're from

Emre and Selin name their cities.

### 3. Saying where you live now

Selin and Emre find out they live in the same neighbourhood.

### 4. Saying which street you live on

Emre and Selin work out how close they live.

### 5. Saying which languages you speak

Selin asks Emre about German and they compare languages.

### 6. Hearing about another country

Emre asks Selin about Germany, and she says she does not know it at all.

### 7. Saying where your family lives

Selin and Emre say where their families are and how often they visit.
