# First steps: My family and my day

> Master talking about your day by listening to Reema and Faiz's conversation about work and family. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** The pavement outside a school in Delhi at three in the afternoon, with parents waiting for the doors to open. Reema and Faiz stand next to each other most days and today they start talking. They are on familiar terms with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Saying what you do for work

Reema and Faiz find out what the other does for a living.

### 2. Talking about your children

Reema and Faiz say how many children they each have.

### 3. Saying who you live with

Faiz tells Reema who is at home, and she does the same.

### 4. Saying what time you get up

Faiz asks Reema what time her day starts.

### 5. Saying where you eat meals

Reema and Faiz compare where they eat during the day.

### 6. Talking about your evening

Faiz tells Reema he works evenings and goes to bed late.

### 7. Meeting the children after school

The children come out, and Reema and Faiz say goodbye.
