# First steps: Buying clothes

> Master shopping for clothes by listening to Vera and Paolo's conversation about finding the right size. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** A small clothes shop under the portici in Bologna on a quiet afternoon. Vera came in to look around and Paolo is the only person working. Both hold Lei throughout.

## Lessons

### 1. Browsing without buying

Paolo offers to help, Vera says she is only looking, and then she spots a T-shirt.

### 2. Saying what size you are

Paolo looks for Vera's size and finds one at the back.

### 3. Asking for another colour

Vera asks Paolo what colours the T-shirt comes in.

### 4. Asking to try something on

Vera asks to try the T-shirt on, and Paolo points out the changing room.

### 5. Saying something is too big

The medium is too big, so Paolo fetches Vera a small.

### 6. Saying something fits well

Vera tells Paolo the smaller T-shirt is just right.

### 7. Buying what you chose

Vera buys the T-shirt and Paolo bags it up.
