# First steps: Buying clothes

> Master shopping for clothes by listening to Defne and Hakan's conversation about finding the right size. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** A small clothes shop on a side street in Beyoğlu, İstanbul, on a quiet afternoon. Defne came in to look around and Hakan is the only person working. They use siz with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Browsing without buying

Hakan offers to help, Defne says she is only looking, and then she spots a jumper.

### 2. Saying what size you are

Hakan looks for Defne's size and finds one at the back.

### 3. Asking for another colour

Defne asks for the jumper in another colour and settles on navy.

### 4. Asking to try something on

Defne asks to try the jumper on, and Hakan points out the changing room.

### 5. Saying something is too big

The medium is too big, so Hakan fetches Defne a small.

### 6. Saying something fits well

Defne tells Hakan the smaller jumper is just right.

### 7. Buying what you chose

Defne buys the jumper and Hakan bags it up.
