# First steps: Numbers, prices and paying

> Join Ayşe and Rıza for a Saturday morning of prices and change, one short conversation at a time. Each lesson trains your ear until you can follow every word and answer back.

**Setting:** A fruit and vegetable stall at the Saturday street market in Kadıköy, İstanbul, busy and loud. Ayşe comes most weeks and Rıza has had the stall for years. They use siz with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Asking what something costs

Ayşe asks Rıza the price of the apples.

### 2. Asking a price again

Ayşe misses the price in the noise and Rıza says it again.

### 3. Asking the price of more items

Ayşe asks about the tomatoes and takes two kilos.

### 4. Saying how many you want

Ayşe checks Rıza has eggs and says how many she needs.

### 5. Asking for the total

Ayşe asks Rıza what it all comes to.

### 6. Paying in cash

Ayşe offers a card and Rıza tells her the stall is cash only.

### 7. Understanding your change

Rıza counts Ayşe's change back to her and they say goodbye.
