# Rotterdam Marathon Landmarks

> Master Dutch vocabulary for city landmarks by listening to Thijs and Julia's conversation about the famous stops along the Rotterdam marathon route. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** The course is set along the lively route of the Rotterdam marathon, beginning at the iconic Coolsingel. Thijs and Julia meet in the spectator crowd at the start line and decide to travel together to various cheering points like the Erasmus Bridge and Kralingse Bos to support their running relatives.

## Lessons

### 1. Greeting someone and sharing news

Thijs and Julia greet each other and realize both of their family members are running in the event.

### 2. Asking about someone's plans

Thijs and Julia talk about the crowded location and discuss where they plan to watch the event.

### 3. Suggesting to go somewhere together

Thijs looks at Julia's map, asks about the distance to the bridge, and suggests they walk there together.

### 4. Introducing yourself to someone new

Thijs and Julia introduce themselves to each other as they walk to the bridge.

### 5. Asking about event times

Thijs and Julia arrive at the beautiful bridge and discuss when the runners are expected to arrive.

### 6. Offering food and drinks

While waiting, Julia offers Thijs some coffee and mentions she brought stroopwafels for her daughter.

### 7. Pointing out people in a crowd

Thijs spots the runners arriving by the water and helps Julia see them.

### 8. Cheering for someone

Thijs and Julia cheer as they spot their respective family members running past.

### 9. Discussing distance and physical fatigue

Thijs suggests going to the forest, but Julia explains it is too far because her legs are tired.
