# Preparing for CILS Oral Exam

> Prepare for the CILS oral exam by listening to Elena and Matteo live out the real-life scenarios the exam's listening and speaking sections actually test. By the end of this course, you will understand and hold your own in exactly those situations on exam day.

**Setting:** At a busy café in Naples near Spaccanapoli, Matteo works behind the counter while Elena stops in daily during her morning routine. Their daily interactions cover personal introductions, ordering, asking directions, discussing plans, and resolving small everyday hiccups.

## Lessons

### 1. Greeting someone and asking how they are

Matteo greets Elena at the café and asks how she is doing today.

### 2. Ordering coffee and pastries

Matteo offers Elena her usual coffee, and she adds a warm croissant to her order.

### 3. Asking about prices of café items

Elena asks Matteo how much the croissant and coffee cost individually.

### 4. Paying the bill and receiving change

Elena calculates the total, pays with a five-euro bill, and receives her change from Matteo.

### 5. Asking for directions to a location

Elena asks Matteo where the post office is, and he gives her walking directions.
