# First steps: Ordering a drink

> Master ordering at a counter by listening to Sofie and Rasmus's conversation about coffee on a quiet morning. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** A small café in Vesterbro in Copenhagen, quiet in the middle of the morning. Sofie comes in most days and Rasmus is alone behind the counter. They use du with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Ordering a drink at a counter

Rasmus asks Sofie what she would like, twice, and she orders a coffee.

### 2. Choosing how your coffee comes

Sofie asks for milk in her coffee, then changes her mind and asks for it black.

### 3. Asking for no sugar

Sofie tells Rasmus she takes it without sugar.

### 4. Ordering something to eat

Rasmus offers Sofie a pastry and reads her order back.

### 5. Adding to your order

Sofie adds a tea and then closes her order.

### 6. Drinking in or taking away

Sofie says she is staying, and Rasmus tells her to wait a moment.

### 7. Collecting your drinks

Rasmus sets the order down and warns Sofie that the coffee is hot.
