# Nuovo Espresso Plus 2, Unit 4: Choosing a show together

> Master making plans by listening to Valentina and Alberto's conversation outside a theatre in Parma, which pairs with the themes of unit 4 of Nuovo Espresso Plus 2. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** In front of a theatre box office in Parma on a Thursday evening, with the weekend programme on the posters. Valentina is waiting and Alberto arrives late. They are old friends from university and use tu with each other from the first line. The person in the box office is never heard.

## Lessons

### 1. Saying what you're doing right now

Alberto arrives late, and Valentina is reading the weekend programme on the posters.

### 2. Suggesting a show

Alberto suggests the opera on Saturday, and Valentina is not convinced.

### 3. Saying no and giving a reason

Valentina tells Alberto why Saturday is impossible for her this month.

### 4. Suggesting something else

Alberto suggests Sunday's comedy, and Valentina agrees once she hears what his colleague thought of it.

### 5. Buying the tickets

Alberto has a theatre card, so Valentina asks him to buy the tickets.

### 6. Agreeing on a time and place

Valentina and Alberto decide when and where to meet on Sunday, with a coffee first.

### 7. Telling the others

Valentina asks Alberto to tell their friends, and everyone can come except Fabio.
