# Nuovo Espresso 1, Unit 7: Back from the holidays

> Master talking about your holidays by listening to Sofia and Michele's conversation about her two weeks in Sicily, which pairs with the themes of unit 7 of Nuovo Espresso 1. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** A small gelateria in Bergamo's Città Alta in the first week of September. Sofia, a regular, got back last night from two weeks in Sicily with her boyfriend; Michele, who owns the gelateria, worked all summer. They use tu with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Welcoming someone back

Michele welcomes Sofia back and guesses her usual flavour.

### 2. Saying where you went

Michele asks Sofia where she went, and she tells him about Sicily.

### 3. Saying what you did

Sofia tells Michele how they spent the days, and he envies them.

### 4. Talking about the weather

Sofia tells Michele about the Sicilian sun, and he tells her it rained in Bergamo.

### 5. Saying you didn't go anywhere

Sofia asks Michele about his holiday, and he tells her he worked all summer.

### 6. Giving someone a present

Sofia gives Michele a jar of pistachio cream she brought back from Sicily.

### 7. Being treated

Sofia asks what she owes, and Michele says today it's on him.
