# Nederlands in gang 2: Lunch with a new colleague

> Listen in as Femke and Karim chat over lunch in real, everyday Dutch, pairing with the themes of chapter 2 of Nederlands in gang. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** The staff canteen at a university in Groningen at lunchtime on a Friday. Karim is in his first week and sits down at the table where Femke is eating; they have not met before. They use je with each other from the first line.

## Lessons

### 1. Asking if a seat is free

Karim asks Femke if he can sit at her table, and they introduce themselves.

### 2. Asking who someone is

Karim asks Femke who the man with the beard is, and she tells him.

### 3. Describing a person

Karim is looking for a colleague he has not met yet, and Femke tells him what she looks like.

### 4. Talking about your family

Karim asks Femke about her children, and he talks about his sister's family.

### 5. Asking the time

Karim asks Femke the time, because he is meeting Sanne at one.

### 6. Talking about holidays

Femke and Karim talk about when they have their holidays.

### 7. Going back to work

Femke and Karim go back to work and say goodbye until Monday.
