# Menschen A2.2, Unit 19: A night at the museums

> Master talking a friend into a night out by listening to Robin and Nele's phone call about museum night, which pairs with the themes of Unit 19 of Menschen A2.2. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** A phone call in Braunschweig on a Saturday at six in the evening. Robin never misses museum night and wants Nele to come tonight. Nele is on the bus home from her Saturday football match, which they lost, and she is tired. They use du with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Saying where you're coming from

Robin calls Nele, who is on the bus home from football, and asks how the game went.

### 2. Getting someone excited

Robin tells Nele about museum night, and she isn't sure.

### 3. Hesitating

Nele would rather stay on the sofa, and Robin has an answer for that, but she has played ninety minutes.

### 4. Asking what's on

Nele asks what there is to see, and Robin tells her about a torchlight tour and a concert.

### 5. Asking how someone knows

Nele asks where Robin heard about it all, and he tells her who else is coming.

### 6. Agreeing on a condition

Nele agrees to come if they eat afterwards, and Robin offers to pay.

### 7. Fixing where to meet

They agree to meet in front of the museum, after Nele has had a shower.
