# Menschen A2.1, Unit 8: Visiting a colleague in hospital

**Setting:** A hospital ward in Osnabrück on a Wednesday afternoon, during visiting hours. Björn came off his bike on the way to work on Monday and broke his leg. Aylin, who sits opposite him in the office, has come to visit. They use du with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Showing sympathy

Aylin arrives at Björn's bed and asks how he is.

### 2. Saying what happened

Björn tells Aylin how he came off his bike on Monday morning.

### 3. Saying you were worried

Aylin tells Björn she was worried, and he explains why nobody at the office heard from him.

### 4. Talking about an injury

Björn tells Aylin his leg is broken and how long he has to stay.

### 5. Saying why you can't work

Björn worries about the work he is leaving behind, and Aylin tells him not to.

### 6. Saying what you hope

Aylin hopes he'll be fit again soon, and Björn hopes it's before his holiday.

### 7. Wishing someone well

Aylin gives Björn chocolate from everyone in the office and says goodbye.
