# Menschen A2.1, Unit 6: Planning the weekend

**Setting:** A bus stop in Darmstadt on a Thursday in September, after work, next to an advertising pillar covered in posters for the weekend. Nadine and Kemal are old friends waiting for different buses. She has spotted three things she wants to do, and he is on late shifts this month. They use du with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Suggesting something to do

Nadine spots a poster for cinema in the park and asks Kemal if he wants to come.

### 2. Turning down a suggestion

Kemal says he can't come on Saturday because he works late.

### 3. Offering another day

Kemal has a week off from Sunday, and Nadine suggests the flea market, but he isn't sure.

### 4. Asking how long something lasts

Nadine suggests a jazz concert on Sunday evening, and Kemal asks how long it is.

### 5. Settling on a compromise

Nadine suggests doing a bit of both, and Kemal agrees.

### 6. Fixing a time and place

They agree where to meet on Sunday, and Nadine wants to be at the flea market early.

### 7. Talking about an event in the past

Kemal asks if Nadine has been to the concert before, and she remembers last year's rain.
