# Menschen A2.1, Unit 5: A weekend in Lübeck

> Listen in as Lotta and Vincent plan a day of sightseeing in Lübeck in real, everyday German, pairing with the themes of Unit 5 of Menschen A2.1. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** Lübeck on a Saturday in September. Vincent came up on Friday evening, and Lotta arrives on Saturday morning. He meets her at the station, tells her what he saw last night, and they plan the day in the old town. They use du with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Meeting someone off the train

Vincent meets Lotta at the station and asks about her journey, and she asks about his hotel.

### 2. Saying what you did yesterday

Vincent tells Lotta what he did on Friday evening, and she pretends to be jealous.

### 3. Suggesting a plan

Vincent wants to go up a church tower, and Lotta isn't keen.

### 4. Agreeing on a plan

Lotta suggests a boat trip instead, and they agree on the order of the day.

### 5. Describing what you see

At the Holstentor, Lotta notices the towers lean, and she asks Vincent for a photo.

### 6. Choosing a café

Vincent suggests the famous marzipan café for the afternoon, and Lotta knows exactly what she'll have.

### 7. Buying a postcard

Lotta buys a postcard for her grandmother, and Vincent helps her choose one.
