# Menschen A1.1, Unit 1: Meeting your car share

> Join Jule and Luka for an early car-share pickup in Köln, one short conversation at a time, pairing with the themes of unit 1 of Menschen A1.1. Each lesson trains your ear until you can follow every word and answer back.

**Setting:** The car-share meeting point outside Köln's main station at seven on a Saturday morning. Jule is driving to Leipzig and has two passengers from the app; Ana is already half asleep in the back. Luka arrives and meets Jule for the first time, since they have only messaged. The last lesson is at the other end, in Leipzig. They use du with each other from the first line.

## Lessons

### 1. Greeting someone in the morning

Luka walks up to Jule's car outside the station, and they say good morning.

### 2. Asking someone's name

Luka checks that Jule is the driver, and Jule asks which of her two passengers he is.

### 3. Asking how someone is

Jule and Luka ask how the other is, and both admit they are still tired.

### 4. Introducing someone else

Luka sees someone in the back seat, and Jule tells him who she is.

### 5. Saying where you're from

Jule asks Luka where he is from, and he asks her the same.

### 6. Asking someone to repeat

Luka asks where in Köln Jule lives, and she has to say it twice.

### 7. Saying goodbye after a ride

Five hours later Jule drops Luka off in Leipzig, and they say goodbye.
