# Dutch Experience 1 for Koentact Students (Part 1)

> Review and master the basics of A1.1 Dutch daily life while practicing your listening and speaking skills on the go. This interactive course is inspired by Chapters 1-5 of Nederlands In Gang.

**Setting:** Set in the lively university city of Utrecht, following the daily encounters of a new student and a local resident. Experience authentic Dutch situations ranging from campus canteens to bustling local markets.

## Lessons

### 1. Greeting and introductions

Sam arrives in Utrecht and meets Emma for the first time. They exchange basic greetings.

**Vocabulary:**
- goedemorgen (good morning)
- hoi (hi)
- de naam (the name)
- kennismaken (get to know / meet)
- tot ziens (goodbye)

**Objectives:**
- Greet people and say goodbye appropriately
- Introduce oneself to others
- Distinguish between formal and informal pronouns

### 2. Spelling and personal details

Practise spelling your first and last name.

**Vocabulary:**
- het land (the country)
- komen (to come)
- het alfabet (the alphabet)
- spellen (to spell)
- de voornaam (the first name)
- de achternaam (the last name)
- de letter (the letter)

**Objectives:**
- Identify and name family members
- Describe a person's physical appearance
- Construct basic declarative main clauses

### 3. Numbers and contact info

Exchange phone numbers and addresses with a classmate.

**Vocabulary:**

- de postcode (the postal code)
- het telefoonnummer (the telephone number)
- nul (zero)

- honderd (a hundred)

**Objectives:**
- Count and use numbers up to 100
- Ask for and state house numbers and phone numbers

### 4. Languages and formalities

Discuss where you are from and learn to be polite in Dutch

Show pictures to a friend and describe your family members

- Identify and name extended family members

### 6. Asking open questions

Use common question words to find out more about someone's life

- eruitzien (to look like / appear)

**Objectives:**
- Ask open questions using interrogative words
- Use possessive pronouns to indicate ownership

### 7. Telling the time

Figure out schedules and when the canteen break starts

**Objectives:**
