**Setting:** Sem and Fleur meet at a lively family gathering in Kralingen, Rotterdam, to celebrate their shared relatives' anniversary. Sitting together away from the main party, they catch up by breaking down the complicated relationships, marriages, and childhood dynamics of their extended family.

## Lessons

### 1. Identifying family members at a party

Sem and Fleur step outside to escape their grandparents' crowded anniversary party, and Sem identifies his mother's new husband.

### 2. Describing a blended family

Sem explains his parents' divorces and lists his new stepfather, stepmother, stepbrother, and stepsisters for Fleur.

### 3. Talking about childhood behavior

Sem complains about his stepsisters arguing, prompting Fleur to reminisce about fighting with her brother when they were growing up.

### 4. Discussing extended family and relatives

Sem and Fleur catch up on their in-laws and young relatives before Fleur proposes taking a photo with all forty family members.
