# Édito A2, Unit 4: Before a first date

> Master describing people by listening to Jade and Nicolas's conversation about her first date this weekend, which pairs with the themes of unit 4 of Édito A2. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** A café in Caen on a Thursday evening after work. Jade has a first date on Saturday with a man she met on a dating app, and shows his photos to Nicolas, her friend since collège. They use tu with each other, as old friends do.

## Lessons

### 1. Paying a compliment

Nicolas notices Jade's new haircut, and she tells him it's for Saturday.

### 2. Describing what someone looks like

Jade shows Nicolas a photo of Yann and describes him.

### 3. Saying who someone looks like

Nicolas thinks Yann looks like Jade's brother, and Jade only half agrees.

### 4. Talking about someone's personality

Jade says what Yann seems to be like, compares him to Nicolas and guesses at his faults.

### 5. Finding something in common

Jade tells Nicolas that Yann has the same kind of dog as her, and in the photos the two dogs look identical.

### 6. Talking about habits

Jade tells Nicolas that Yann runs every morning and reads every evening, and Nicolas is suspicious.

### 7. Encouraging a friend

Jade worries the date might go badly, and Nicolas promises to come and get her.
