# Discussing pétanque at the park

> Master French leisure vocabulary by listening to Romain and Émilie's conversation about the rules and culture of playing pétanque. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** Romain and Émilie are taking a break from a food trade show in Paris and meet up at the Parc de la Villette to play a casual game of pétanque. As they share a lane, they chat about the rules, the gear, and the friendly rivalries of the game.

Romain and Émilie strike up a conversation in a park and Romain invites her to play a game with him.
