# First steps: Eating out

> Listen in as Esra and Serkan talk through a dinner order in real, everyday Turkish. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A small family restaurant on a side street in Beyoğlu, İstanbul, early in the evening before it fills up. Esra is eating with a friend and Serkan is running the floor. They use siz with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Asking for a table

Serkan finds Esra a table for two.

### 2. Asking for the menu

Esra asks for the menu and Serkan tells her what is good today.

### 3. Ordering for two people

Esra orders soup for two and adds köfte.

### 4. Ordering drinks with a meal

Serkan asks Esra about drinks and she orders ayran.

### 5. Saying the food is good

Serkan checks on Esra and she tells him the food is very good.

### 6. Asking for the bill

Esra asks Serkan for the bill and checks that a card is fine.

### 7. Saying goodbye after a meal

Serkan brings Esra the bill and they say goodnight.
