# First steps: Eating out

> Listen in as Ewa and Janek talk through a dinner order in real, everyday Polish. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A small neighbourhood restaurant in Kraków on a warm evening, with a few tables outside. Ewa has come for dinner with a friend and Janek is waiting tables. They hold the polite pan and pani form throughout.

## Lessons

### 1. Asking for a table

Ewa asks Janek for a table outside for two.

### 2. Asking for the menu

Ewa asks Janek for the menu and takes her time over it.

### 3. Ordering for two people

Ewa orders the chicken for herself and the salad for her friend.

### 4. Ordering drinks with a meal

Janek takes Ewa's order for a beer and some still water.

### 5. Saying the food is good

Janek checks on the table and offers more water.

### 6. Asking for the bill

Ewa asks Janek for the bill, and they pay together.

### 7. Saying goodbye after a meal

Ewa and Janek say goodbye at the end of the meal.
