# First steps: Eating out

**Setting:** A small neighborhood restaurant in Chicago on a warm evening, with a few tables out on the sidewalk. Nora has come for dinner with a friend and Marco is waiting tables.

## Lessons

### 1. Asking for a table

Nora asks Marco for a table outside for two.

### 2. Asking for the menu

Nora asks Marco for the menu and takes her time over it.

### 3. Ordering for two people

Nora orders the chicken for herself and the salad for her friend.

### 4. Ordering drinks with a meal

Marco takes Nora's order for a beer and some still water.

### 5. Saying the food is good

Marco checks on the table, and Nora asks for more water.

### 6. Asking for the check

Nora asks Marco for the check, and they pay together.

### 7. Saying goodbye after a meal

Nora and Marco say goodbye at the end of the meal.
