# First steps: Eating out

> Listen in as Louise and Lars talk through a dinner order in real, everyday Danish. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A small neighbourhood restaurant in Aarhus on a warm evening, with a few tables outside. Louise has come for dinner with a friend and Lars is waiting tables. They use du with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Asking for a table

Louise asks Lars for a table outside for two.

### 2. Asking for the menu

Louise asks Lars for the menu and takes her time over it.

### 3. Ordering for two people

Louise orders the chicken for herself and the salad for her friend.

### 4. Ordering drinks with a meal

Lars takes Louise's order for a beer and some still water.

### 5. Saying the food is good

Lars checks on the table and offers more water.

### 6. Asking for the bill

Louise asks Lars for the bill and says to put it on one.

### 7. Saying goodbye after a meal

Louise and Lars say goodbye at the end of the meal.
