# First steps: Eating out

> Listen in as Camille and Bruno talk through a dinner order in real, everyday French. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A small neighbourhood restaurant in the Krutenau in Strasbourg on a warm evening, with a few tables out on the pavement. Camille has come for dinner with a friend and Bruno is waiting tables. Both hold vous throughout.

## Lessons

### 1. Asking for a table

Camille asks Bruno for a table outside for two.

### 2. Asking for the menu

Camille asks Bruno for the menu and takes her time over it.

### 3. Ordering for two people

Camille orders the chicken for herself and the salad for her friend.

### 4. Ordering drinks with a meal

Bruno takes Camille's order for a beer and some still water.

### 5. Saying the food is good

Bruno checks on the table and offers more water.

### 6. Asking for the bill

Camille asks Bruno for the bill, and they pay together.

### 7. Saying goodbye after a meal

Camille and Bruno say goodbye at the end of the meal.
