# First steps: Eating out

> Listen in as Paula and Aldo talk through a dinner order in real, everyday Spanish. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A neighbourhood restaurant in Lima on a warm evening, with a few tables out on the terrace. Paula has come for dinner with a friend and Aldo is waiting tables. They use usted with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Asking for a table

Paula asks Aldo for a table on the terrace for two.

### 2. Asking for the menu

Paula asks Aldo for the menu and takes her time over it.

### 3. Ordering for two people

Paula orders the chicken for herself and the salad for her friend.

### 4. Ordering drinks with a meal

Aldo takes Paula's order for a beer and some still water.

### 5. Saying the food is good

Aldo checks on the table and offers more water.

### 6. Asking for the bill

Paula asks Aldo for the bill, and they pay together.

### 7. Saying goodbye after a meal

Paula and Aldo say goodnight at the end of the meal.
