# First steps: Eating out

> Listen in as Geneviève and Rémi talk through a supper order in real, everyday French. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A small neighbourhood restaurant in Saint-Roch in Québec City on a warm evening, with a few tables out on the pavement. Geneviève has come for supper with a friend and Rémi is waiting tables. Both hold vous throughout.

## Lessons

### 1. Asking for a table

Geneviève asks Rémi for a table on the terrace for two.

### 2. Asking for the menu

Geneviève asks Rémi for the menu and takes her time over it.

### 3. Ordering for two people

Geneviève orders the chicken for herself and the salad for her friend.

### 4. Ordering drinks with a meal

Rémi takes Geneviève's order for a beer and some still water.

### 5. Saying the food is good

Rémi checks on the table and offers more water.

### 6. Asking for the bill

Geneviève asks Rémi for the bill, and they pay together.

### 7. Saying goodbye after a meal

Geneviève and Rémi say goodbye at the end of the meal.
