# First steps: My family and my day

> Master talking about your day by listening to Joana and Nelson's conversation about work and family. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** The pavement outside a nursery in Lisbon at three in the afternoon, with parents waiting for the doors to open. Joana and Nelson stand next to each other most days and today they start talking. They use tu with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Saying what you do for work

Joana and Nelson find out what the other does for a living.

### 2. Talking about your children

Joana and Nelson say how many children they each have.

### 3. Saying who you live with

Nelson tells Joana who is at home, and she does the same.

### 4. Saying what time you get up

Nelson asks Joana what time her day starts.

### 5. Saying where you eat meals

Joana and Nelson compare where they eat during the day.

### 6. Talking about your evening

Nelson tells Joana he works evenings and goes to bed late.

### 7. Meeting the children after nursery

The children come out, and Joana and Nelson say goodbye.
