# Casual French on the Riviera

> Master informal French conversation by listening to Chloé and Lucas's conversation about local slang and beachside small talk. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** The course is set in Nice on the Côte d'Azur, where Chloé and Lucas, who are old family friends, meet up during their summer holidays. Over the course of a week, they navigate the crowded beaches, share local street food at the markets, and complain about the summer traffic using colorful local slang.

## Lessons

### 1. Describing where you are staying

Chloé and Lucas catch up and talk about their accommodations, including Lucas's hotel with a sea view and Chloé's aunt's place near the market.

### 2. Complaining about crowds and traffic

Lucas and Chloé discuss the busy August crowds, and Lucas shares his frustrating experience of getting stuck in traffic on his way to the beach.

Chloé and Lucas talk about how they spent their previous day, from Lucas swimming in the sea to Chloé exploring the old town and finding a great cafe.

### 4. Making plans to go out

Lucas suggests visiting Chloé's newly discovered cafe together, and Chloé asks if Lucas's wife will be joining them this week.

### 5. Explaining travel preferences

Lucas explains why his guest is arriving on Friday to avoid the summer traffic, and Chloé agrees that driving in the summer is a nightmare.

### 6. Negotiating a meeting time

Chloé and Lucas try to agree on an early meeting time to get socca before the crowds arrive, tempting Lucas with the promise of beach time afterward.

### 7. Confirming plans and saying goodbye
