# First steps: Hello and who I am

> Master meeting a neighbour by listening to Camila and Rodrigo's conversation about moving into the building. It may feel challenging at first, but by the end of this course you will be able to fully understand and participate.

**Setting:** The entrance hall of an apartment building in Pinheiros in São Paulo on a warm, sunny weekday morning. Camila moved in at the weekend and runs into Rodrigo, who has lived here for years, on her way out. They use você with each other from the first line.

## Lessons

### 1. Greeting a neighbour

Camila and Rodrigo say hello in the hall, and she mentions she is new.

### 2. Asking someone's name

Camila and Rodrigo exchange names, and he has to check he heard hers right.

### 3. Welcoming someone somewhere new

Rodrigo welcomes Camila to the building and she thanks him.

### 4. Asking how someone is

Camila and Rodrigo ask after each other and both say they are well.

### 5. Talking about the weather

Camila and Rodrigo agree it is a beautiful sunny morning.

### 6. Saying you have to go

Rodrigo has to leave for work and Camila says she does too.

### 7. Saying goodbye for the day

Camila and Rodrigo say goodbye at the door and agree to see each other tomorrow.
