# First steps: What time, what day

**Setting:** The doorway of a small barber's in Glasgow in the late afternoon. Tom walks past every day and finally stops to ask; Julie is tidying up between customers.

## Lessons

### 1. Asking what time a shop opens

Tom stops at the barber's and asks Julie what time she opens.

### 2. Asking what time it closes

Tom asks Julie what time the shop closes.

### 3. Checking which days are open

Tom checks with Julie which days the shop is open.

### 4. Finding out about Sunday closing

Julie tells Tom the shop is closed on Sunday and shuts early on Saturday.

### 5. Asking for an appointment tomorrow

Tom asks Julie for an appointment tomorrow afternoon.

### 6. Agreeing on a time

Three is busy, so Julie offers Tom a quarter past instead.

### 7. Giving your name for a booking

Julie takes Tom's name and they agree on Thursday.
