# First steps: Where is it?

> Listen in as Amira and Kurt talk through the way to the station in real, everyday German. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A street corner in Munich a few streets from the park, late morning. Amira is in the city for two days and stops Kurt, who has lived on this street all his life. Both hold Sie throughout.

## Lessons

### 1. Stopping someone to ask directions

Amira stops Kurt in the street to ask the way to the station.

### 2. Asking how far somewhere is

Amira asks Kurt how long the walk takes.

### 3. Following directions to the station

Amira asks Kurt to repeat, and he adds the next step.

### 4. Locating a bank by landmarks

Amira works out with Kurt where the bank is.

### 5. Saying what is behind something

Amira and Kurt work out that the station is behind the hotel.

### 6. Asking where the toilet is

Amira asks Kurt where the toilet is.

### 7. Thanking someone for their help

Amira thanks Kurt for his help and they part.
