# First steps: Where is it?

> Listen in as Nadia and Réjean talk through the way to the metro in real, everyday French. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A street corner in Montréal a few streets from the park, late morning. Nadia is in the city for two days and stops Réjean, who has lived on this street all his life. Both hold vous throughout.

## Lessons

### 1. Stopping someone to ask directions

Nadia stops Réjean in the street to ask the way to the metro.

### 2. Asking how far somewhere is

Nadia asks if the metro is far, and Réjean tells her how long it takes.

### 3. Following directions to the metro

Réjean gives Nadia the directions twice, slowly.

### 4. Locating a bank by landmarks

Nadia works out with Réjean where the bank is.

### 5. Saying what is behind something

Nadia and Réjean work out that the metro is behind the hotel.

### 6. Asking where the toilets are

Nadia asks Réjean where she can find a toilet.

### 7. Thanking someone for their help

Nadia thanks Réjean for his help and they part.
