# First steps: Where is it?

> Listen in as Yasmin and Ken talk through the way to the Tube station in real, everyday English. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A street corner in London near a café, late morning. Yasmin is in the city for two days and stops Ken, who has lived on this street all his life.

## Lessons

### 1. Stopping someone to ask directions

Yasmin stops Ken in the street to ask the way to the Tube station.

### 2. Asking how far somewhere is

Yasmin asks Ken how long the walk takes.

### 3. Following directions to the station

Ken gives Yasmin the directions twice, slowly.

### 4. Locating a bank by landmarks

Yasmin works out with Ken where the bank is.

### 5. Saying what is behind something

Yasmin and Ken work out that the station is in front of the park.

### 6. Asking where the toilets are

Yasmin asks Ken where the toilets are.

### 7. Thanking someone for their help

Yasmin thanks Ken for his help and they part.
