# First steps: Where is it?

> Listen in as Amina and Jerzy talk through the way to the station in real, everyday Polish. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A street corner in Kraków a few streets from the park, late morning. Amina is in the city for two days and stops Jerzy, who has lived on this street all his life. They hold the polite pan and pani form throughout.

## Lessons

### 1. Stopping someone to ask directions

Amina stops Jerzy in the street to ask the way to the station.

### 2. Asking how far somewhere is

Amina asks Jerzy whether the station is far.

### 3. Following directions to the station

Amina asks Jerzy to repeat, and he adds the next step.

### 4. Locating a bank by landmarks

Amina works out with Jerzy where the bank is.

### 5. Saying what is behind something

Amina and Jerzy work out that the station is behind the hotel.

### 6. Asking where the toilet is

Amina asks Jerzy where the toilet is.

### 7. Thanking someone for their help

Amina thanks Jerzy for his help and they part.
