# First steps: Where is it?

> Listen in as Nur and Ozan talk through the way to the station in real, everyday Turkish. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A street corner in Kadıköy, İstanbul, on a bright weekday afternoon. Nur is visiting for the day and stops Ozan, who lives around the corner. They use siz with each other.

## Lessons

### 1. Stopping someone to ask directions

Nur stops Ozan and asks him where the station is.

### 2. Asking how far somewhere is

Nur asks Ozan how far the station is and how long it takes.

### 3. Following directions to the station

Ozan takes Nur through the turns again and she repeats them.

### 4. Locating a shop by landmarks

Nur needs a pharmacy and Ozan places it next to the bank.

### 5. Saying what is behind something

Nur asks Ozan about the park and he puts it behind the pharmacy.

### 6. Asking where the toilet is

Nur asks Ozan where she can find a toilet.

### 7. Thanking someone for their help

Nur thanks Ozan and they wish each other a good day.
