# First steps: Where is it?

> Listen in as Aisha and Frank talk through the way to the train station in real, everyday English. By the end of this course their conversation will feel easy to follow, and you'll be ready to join in.

**Setting:** A street corner in Chicago near a bank and a café, late morning. Aisha is in the city for two days and stops Frank, who has lived on this street all his life.

## Lessons

### 1. Stopping someone to ask directions

Aisha stops Frank in the street to ask the way to the train station.

### 2. Asking how far somewhere is

Aisha asks Frank how long the walk takes.

### 3. Following directions to the station

Frank gives Aisha the directions twice, slowly.

### 4. Locating a shop by landmarks

Aisha works out with Frank where the bank is.

### 5. Saying what is behind something

Aisha and Frank work out that the station is in front of the park.

### 6. Asking where the restroom is

Aisha asks Frank where the restroom is.

### 7. Thanking someone for their help

Aisha thanks Frank for his help and they part.
